Over the past few weeks, our fellow Kentuckians have been through hell and back trying to save what little of their belongings remain after the week-long flooding that took place. As a father, grandfather and husband, I can only imagine the pain and fear that the families of Eastern Kentucky are feeling.
In politics, we often hear about what people are going to do. They always talk about their plan to take action but never talk about how they actually took action. This is not how we operate at the Stuart Ray campaign. This is why last week our campaign worked hand in hand with local businesses and community members to gather essential supplies for the victims of the flooding in Eastern Kentucky. Together, we gathered supplies such as paper towels, water bottles, soap and animal food.
We are hardly the first group to express our support for Eastern Kentucky and we will not be the last. Everyday hundreds of people are showing up to help. I saw it when people came to drop off goods for people who live 150 miles away and I saw it when I drove to the communities in Eastern Kentucky to drop off our supplies. This is not only the spirit of our state and our city, but this is the spirit of America. As your congressman, I will work to bring respect and compassion back to the legislature and continue to provide real results, not empty promises.
